About Us

Blue Peanut Medical Education was formed by a group of experienced doctors who are passionate about medical education. We have been teaching students all the way from sixth form to the final years of medical school and postgraduate doctors all the way until completion of specialist training. We have been doing this since 2000 and have gained years of experience. Most of our teaching is done in our own surgeries in East Lancashire and together we have helped scores of doctors, medical students and sixth form students gain success in their career progression.

Whilst we have been doing this for local schools and local universities, we felt it was now the time to share what we have learned with the wider student community. In terms of medical school admissions, we were both once sixth form students, with straight A grades at GCSE and similar predicted grades at A-level. We have a large number of prizes under our belt and our names permanently etched in the school board of merit.

Although there was plenty of help in how to write statements and conduct interviews, this was rather generic and not specific to what we needed for medical school interviews. We did not have access to family or friends who are aware of this field and our own local doctors at the time were not involved in any teaching roles. We were left to ourselves and although we succeeded in getting a place at an excellent local medical school, we feel we could have been better prepared. A-Levels are demanding and there was little time to research all the information that we needed.

This is where we felt we can help other students. We do all the hard work in looking for trends in the questions used by medical schools, keeping up to date with health care developments, as well as the latest medical news, so you don’t have to. We can help you prepare so that when faced with the real interview, in which you will normally only get one chance, you will answer questions confidently. We will teach you how to answer relevant questions, and also have courses where you practice as close to the real thing as possible with expert feedback. This leaves you to focus on your studies.

We will constantly develop our website and our Youtube channel with free information to help you achieve success. Some of you we may welcome as trainee general practitioners in our surgery in years to come.

We also provide training for candidates taking the MRCGP examination. We have over the years trained multiple doctors from multiple backgrounds, including those from international backgrounds and those who are struggling. Every trainee that has trained with us in our practice has passed the examination, including every trainee that we have had in extended training.  We have developed our own unique course material, trained our own actors and of course kept ourselves up to date with the latest trends in the examination.

There are several other companies that offer similar services to ours, so why should you choose us? We would answer that by saying that you will be taught by experienced trainers who are experts in the field; we do subcontract out or training to others. We focus on quality over quantity with some courses, such as personal training, sometimes only having capacity for one candidate per day. We don’t just provide you with glossy reading material, we are actual doctors working in actual GP surgeries. We are not GP locums or academic staff, we are doctors in which training is in our DNA and our bread and butter.  Read more about us in the meet the team page.

We look forward to helping you achieve success in your career progression

Ethics and video consultation session was really useful. Never come across this before and now know specific answers. Will help me greatly at interview.

Dr Khan sat down with me and we went through a mock MMI interview and worked with me on areas I need to improve. I’ve now realised why I did badly last time ...

I really learnt a lot, and had much to take away with me. I hardly ever feel that I’ve gained so much from a session.

Taught me a lot that reading books for months have failed to teach me with regards to my interview technique.

I have passed my interview last week and got an offer. I wanted to say thank you for all your help in preparing me for my interview.

Excellent teacher. My confidence greatly increased and the tips were really useful. Could not have gained my place without this.

Thank you for all your help. Saved me a lot of time as all the work was done for us.

Many opportunities to learn and practice my skills with the doctors. The teaching I received was invaluable when it came to the interview.

Thank you once again for an excellent session. Learnt lots of skills and I now know what I need to do in the interview.

I’m glad to tell you that I got an offer. Your teaching was invaluable as the stations in the MMI were almost exactly what we went through.

Dr Mannan is a fantastic teacher and friend who has played a major part in my becoming of a GP partner.

Dr Mannan  was very approachable and friendly and gave good insight and explanation of what to expect during my training years.
