Welcome to Blue Peanut Medical Education!
We are a small provider of medical education with roots going back to the year 2000. We are run by two fully qualified general practitioners, Dr Imran Khan and Dr Abdul Mannan. We both completed our A-level studies at Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School and then completed our medical undergraduate degrees at the University of Manchester in 2000.
We have been teaching since we became junior doctors. Since qualifying as general practitioners, we have been teaching medical students from the University of Manchester. More recently, we have also been teaching students from UCLAN and Lancaster medical schools. This includes problem based learning sessions as well as tutorials and student surgeries. This gives us a unique insight into what medical schools are looking for as well as a very detailed knowledge of the medical school curriculum. We regularly attend updates organised by the universities to keep our knowledge and skills up to date.
We also organise work experience placements for local sixth form students in our local area. We do this through NHS Health Education North West. They have a web page dedicated to this at https://www.nwpgmd.nhs.uk/sixth-form-placements
As a continuation of undergraduate medical education, we also look after junior doctors who are training to become future general practitioner. This includes doctors at all stages of training, from foundation years (FY2) all the way to the final years of specialist general practitioner training (ST3). We look after doctors and students who are perhaps struggling with training and those who have been trained abroad and need extra specialist help.
In 2017, we started postgraduate courses aimed at fully qualified doctors. This included updates in the fields of diabetes as well as financial and legal training.
So as you can see, we have a busy week! We therefore took the decision to only have a small number of medical school admission courses per year. There are also a few slots in the evening in which provide training in person for students. This can be specific to the students learning needs and choice of medical school. This means we can provide a personal service to every student that we teach.
We NEVER ask others to do our training. We will not use medical students or administrators to teach you like some other companies. All our courses and training are done in person. This is the reason we believe our success rates reach over 97%. We can also liaise with teachers and parents and help students that need extra help, such as those that are academically very bright, but lack the confidence and experience in interviews. Most of our courses are filled by recommendation.
We are fully open and transparent in our approach. If you wish, we welcome you to come and visit us in our GP surgery for a chat over coffee! Not in some isolated office full of managers. We look forward to helping you secure your medical school place, and for some of you, teaching you as junior doctors and helping you in your career as a general practitioner.
We look forward to helping you achieve success in your career progression!
